In my last blog, I explained what massage and massage therapy is and the difference between relaxation and deep tissue massages. I’d like to discuss why you should frequently get massage.

Massage boosts your mood. It releases endorphins like dopamine and serotonin to put you in a better mood. It also lowers the cortisol level in your blood.

Massge helps the heart circulate blood. During excercise your heart reate elevates and your muscles physically pump back to the heart. A massage does the same thingn but because the energy is being provided by the therapist, it takes the strain off of your heart.

Massage encourages healthy immune function. Getting massages boost the number of t-cells the body produces.

Massage promotes better digestion. In a 2014 study, massage reduced inflammation and bloating in abdominal cancer patients. There are more serotonin receptors in the intestines than in the brain.

Massage reduces pain. A 2014 study showed 60 minute massage on the neck reduced necl pain and a 2010 study showed that massage helped reduce pain, and anxiety post cardiac surgery.

Massage boosts energy. By working on the relax and resore cycle massage can help boost your energy.

Massage soothes muscle soreness. It increases circulation so fresh blood and oxygen get into the muscles. The freah blood and oxygen lowers the amount of lactic acid in the muscles which cause soreness.

Lastly, massaage relieves stress and anxiety.
